Goldline's new hourly service is passport to a world of travel
16th November 2007:

Holidaymakers Charlotte Jess and Catherine Byrne have their tickets and passports ready for the launch of Translink’s new hourly service to Dublin airport and Dublin City. Bus driver Thomas Johnson and ‘stewardess’ Zara Shaw get set for the new service to take off.
A newly enhanced 24/7 bus service from Belfast to Dublin City Airport is set to take off this weekend, Translink has today revealed.
Operating jointly with Bus Eireann, the new Belfast to Dublin Airport & Dublin City Goldline shuttle service will operate seven days a week, 24 hours a day.
Translink has laid on the extra services following massively increased demand along the Belfast to Dublin route. This year the route has seen a 23% rise in passenger numbers. Ulsterbus is now carrying 8,000 people each week on its Dublin service – that’s the equivalent of 150 full busloads.
This follows on from the huge upturn in usage in the previous 12 months which saw a total of 300,000 people travel from Northern Ireland to Dublin by bus.
Translink General Manager, Bus Services, Frank Clegg said: “The Goldline Express 200 coach service will now leave Belfast for Dublin every 60 minutes starting from 10pm on Sunday evening (18th November). That is a massive commitment, but as a responsive and customer-focused public transport system we are happy to deploy resources where our passengers need them most.
“People are responding to the convenience and reliability of our services. Translink connections between Belfast and Dublin have never been so frequent or easier to use. And with significant year-on-year increases to passenger numbers on this route we are confident that this enhanced service will be a massive hit with cross-border commuters.”
Promotional fares will see a slight rise to cover the increased costs of operating these hourly services. Going live on Sunday evening (November 18 2007), fares from Belfast to Dublin Airport will cost £4.80/7euro for a Super Single, £9.65/14euro for a Standard Single, and £13.80/20euro for a Standard Return.
Fares from Belfast to Dublin City Centre will cost £4.80/7euro for a Super Single, £10.35/15euro for a Standard Single, and £15.20/20euro for a Standard Return.
In addition, Goldline Express services between Newcastle/Downpatrick and Dublin, (Service 240) will also be enhanced with two new additional services operating direct to/from Dublin.
