Translink fast tracks travel discounts for top NI Students

Translink has formally recognised the achievements of Northern Ireland's top GCSE and A Level students, rewarding them with a free Translink Student Discount Card, entitling them to cheaper travel and a range of retail discounts.

The 83 pupils from 53 schools across Northern Ireland who achieved first place in a variety of GCSE and A Level subjects, are being presented with their Translink Student Discount Cards from this week.

Translink’s Brand Manager, Carol Marsden said: “We are delighted to reward our top students in this way. Their achievement deserves much praise with some pupils attaining first place in more than one subject, and some schools with pupils coming first, second and third in a variety of subjects.

“We recognise the importance of travel to students in terms of getting them to and from their studies and helping them make the most of student life and the student experience.  In addition, student life can by very costly and we want to help them to make their money go further”.

The Translink Student Discount Card, which costs £7 per annum, offers:

The Translink Student Discount Card is available to all students on a full time course or in full time professional training in NI, Republic of Ireland and GB. School pupils in full time education are also eligible from the age of 16. The cards are valid from 1st September 2007 to 30th September 2008 and application forms are available by clicking on www.translink.co.uk/students. Students who had a card last year can also renew it online at this address.
