New improved Ulsterbus services on the way for Enniskillen
19 October 2006
Ulsterbus this week announced details of a new and improved bus service for the Enniskillen area, scheduled for introduction in November as part of Translink’s wider Ulsterbus Strategic Review.
Local Ulsterbus District Manager, Sean Falls explained, “Designed for ease of use the new simplified network will offer better services for more people. Key improvements include: the introduction of six new direct Goldline Express services between Enniskillen and Belfast; an enhanced and extended timetable for the Enniskillen Town Service, beginning at the new earlier time of 07.45 and operating on an hourly basis right through until 18.30; easier connections with other Ulsterbus and Goldline services and improved passenger information in simple, easy to use colour-coded route maps.
“Service improvements will also be made on Fermanagh County Key Routes including service 94 between Enniskillen and Omagh, service 95 between Enniskillen, Newtownbutler and Clones and service 194 between Enniskillen and Bundoran.”
With the changeover date set for the 20th November, Translink has recruited two new drivers and will introduce two extra buses to operate these additional services.
“However, while much has been achieved there is still much to do and Translink is committed to working in partnership with the Department for Regional Development (DRD) Road Service and Fermanagh District Council to address key infrastructure issues such as current difficulties when exiting and entering the depot” Sean added.
Translink’s Ulsterbus Strategic Review will be completed over three years and is designed to transform attractiveness, effectiveness and efficiency of Ulsterbus services. It is designed to build on the early successes of the Belfast Metro and new improved Goldline services (14% and 22% growth respectively).
