“One of the Most Beautiful Rail Journeys in the World…”

20 July 2006

This new travel and tourism initiative offers a range of value for money rail ticket and options, comfortable new trains, a host of discounts to various local attractions, the chance to escape from traffic congestion and parking worries.

Joanne Elliott (NI Railways Brand Manager) said:

“Hugging the coastline the rail journey between Coleraine and Londonderry offers travellers spectacular views unsurpassed by private car and can only be defined as an unforgettable experience.

We worked closely with both Coleraine Borough Council and Derry Visitor and Convention Bureau in order to ensure this guide produced the most popular and user friendly tourist options available to complement the attractive rail journey on offer.

Children will love the combination of water activities, beaches and adventure playgrounds while the older generation can enjoy the vast array of arts and crafts, finer foods and antiques along the north coast. There are numerous visitor attractions to explore either on your own, as part of a group or together with 3 generations of your family in tow with free travel from senior citizens and special family tickets on offer.

This brochure definitely is a one-stop shop which has the power to introduce new or indeed reintroduce former visitors to the North West.  It provides a multitude of ideas and information for your trip, plus the additional benefit of discount vouchers for local attractions and restaurants.  This brochure offers both families and friends the opportunity to explore a real jewel in the crown of Northern Ireland by rail, in the comfort of each others company.”

‘The North Coast by Train It’s A Rail Adventure’ brochures are available from stations across the NI Railways network, local Tourist Information Centres, the Belfast Welcome Centre and can be downloaded in its entirety from
