Translink ‘Meet the Managers’ Events Generate Constructive Feedback
15 June 2006
Translink today (15 June) said that its three ‘Meet your Translink Managers’ events which took place this week were very useful and enjoyable and thanked all those who had come along to ask questions and air their views about public transport provision in Northern Ireland.

Translink Chief Executive, Keith Moffatt said: “Overall feedback was very positive, both in terms of improvements we have made to our services and also regarding the very opportunity for one-to-one interaction afforded by our ‘Meet the Managers’ events.
“We were also very pleased to see a great increase in numbers than attended last year’s Public Meeting. While there were no surprises, some recurring issues were raised by customers such as punctuality of particular Metro services and the need for new trains on the Larne line.
“The events allowed us to deal directly with individual concerns and to explain our position in more detail. While we appreciate that we have achieved much with the introduction of Metro in Greater Belfast, we now need to tackle bus prioritisation on our roads if we are to meet punctuality and frequency targets. Through the feedback sessions we took the opportunity to reaffirm Translink’s commitment to working with the Roads Service to address this very issue.
“With regard to the Larne line we reminded those concerned that we have completed the £25.2 million track relay project from Whitehead to Bleach Green and that this is making a substantial difference to our service provision.
However, we fully understand that passengers on the Larne line want to travel on new trains and we assured customers that we are doing everything we can to make this happen. We outlined our intention to complete a business case for additional funding for more new trains which we will present to Government at the end of 2006.
Mr Moffatt concluded by thanking all those who took time to communicate their views. “We are always glad to receive constructive suggestions as to how we can continue to regenerate Public Transport for all passengers in Northern Ireland. Building on the success of our public engagement programme to date we look forward to developing further opportunities for gathering customer feedback.”
