Passenger Group Positions Up For Grabs

12 December 2005

Translink is encouraging public transport users across Northern Ireland particularly bus passengers and passengers in the North West to apply for positions on each of its 10 dedicated bus and rail passenger groups.

Chaired by an independent facilitator, passenger group members and Translink representatives attend informal meetings, which are held once every four months (during October, February and June) at an appropriate local venue.

“At each meeting, members have the opportunity to talk frankly and openly about the service and how it might be improved,” explained Ciaran Rogan, Translink’s Head of Marketing

“We ask members to attend these meetings and in addition, complete and return a brief questionnaire on a weekly basis.  The information contained in these questionnaires can quickly bring any shortfalls in service levels to our attention and enable us to rectify the situation.

“In return for assisting the group, and after attending a minimum of three meetings during an 18-month period and regularly returning questionnaires, passenger group members will receive a weekend for two in either Dublin or Scotland, courtesy of Translink. Members will also receive either three one-day Freedom of Northern Ireland tickets or one seven-day Freedom of NI ticket at each meeting attended,” Mr Rogan said.

To apply for membership, contact Translink’s marketing department on 028 9089 9400

Group membership lasts for two years with the option to extend to a third year with no further extensions. A two-year gap is required before previous members can apply to re-join. The selection is drawn from a database of potential members and will be representative of the Northern Ireland passenger profile.

Ends.
