Translink Lands Top Industry Awards

6 November 2003

Translink has won two major accolades in the 2003 Bus Industry Awards - the Commission for Integrated Transport  (CfIT) Customer Service award, and the Buses for Pleasure award.

In addition, the company’s Ballyclare Buscentre was highly commended in the Infrastructure section of the awards, while its ‘Give The Bus a Go’ Citybus (now Metro) campaign was highly commended in the Outdoor Marketing award.

“These awards recognise Translink’s provision of industry leading services and initiatives,” said Keith Moffatt, Translink’s Chief Executive.

“We were competing against the 240 top UK bus Operators, local authorities and industry organisations, so to win two categories and come away highly commended in two more is a fantastic achievement.” He said.

Professor David Begg, CfIT Chair, explained that the judges of the CfIT Customer Service award were particularly impressed by Translink’s systematic approach to their Customer Charter and also the staff suggestion scheme.

“Translink is a very worthy winner. They have shown that investment in product development and a focus on the customer can result in more people using buses and more satisfied customers.” He said.

Judges of the Buses for Pleasure Award were impressed with the scope of the development in Translink’s Access by Bus to the Countryside (ABC) scheme.

They noted that some services had achieved commercial levels, enabling resources to be released, reallocated and the concept extended to other areas and new developments, and were also impressed with the high quality promotional material, and well thought out means of circulation.

Ends.
