Staggering savings of up to 33% on rail travel are now available to full-time Students and those in full-time professional training across Northern Ireland, thanks to Translink’s Student Discount Card.
The new edition of Translink’s £6 photo card entitles holders to savings of up to 33% on normal adult rail fares, and up to 15% on normal adult Ulsterbus fares costing £1.70 or over.
The new card, which is valid from 1st September 2003 to the end of September 2004, offers additional special student fares and tickets, and reductions on cross-border services.
“We appreciate the increasing financial strain on students, parents and their budgets,” explained Carol Marsden Translink’s Brand Representative.
“Almost 100,000 students use Translink services each year, and following the successful introduction of the Student Discount Card last year, I’m sure many parents were delighted with impromptu visits from student offspring in search of food and clean clothes.”
Students eligible to apply for the discount card include those on a full-time course at a University or College in Northern Ireland, RoI and GB and those in full-time professional training. Application forms for the card will be available from the end of August and can be collected at any Translink bus or rail station, or can be downloaded from the website www.translink.co.uk
