Today (Wed 9th October) sees the launch of a new Translink survey, which will give members of the public the opportunity to contribute to the future of ticketing across Northern Ireland’s bus and rail services.
The survey will ask respondents how they would like to see tickets being packaged - for instance multi journey tickets are popular, but would cross-service tickets be popular for travellers using both bus and rail or Ulsterbus and Citybus.
“We are investing £6 million in upgrading the ticketing systems on our services,” says Tanslink’s Ciaran Rogan. “And with the introduction of smartcard technology, we want to take the opportunity to revise our current ticket products, if necessary.
“It is important that customers are involved in creating the travel options that suit modern transport needs. We are using state of the art systems and software, which will in itself help us to allocate resources. However, we feel that direct input from our customers is the only way to make sure that we are meeting the needs of the travelling public.”
“To encourage people to complete these questionnaires we are offering them the chance to win one of two weekend breaks for two people to Dublin”.
The questionnaires will be available from all main bus or rail stations or can be completed on-line by logging onto the Translink Website www.translink.co.uk/ticket_type. Completed questionnaires should be returned in the pre paid envelopes provided before Friday 8th November 2002.
