Translink exposes Belfast Institute talent at Central Station

17 May 2005

Translink is holding a photographic exhibition entitled ‘Graphics on Track’, in Belfast’s Central Station, which has been created by students from Belfast Institute.  The exhibition focuses on themes relating to travel; passengers and modern public transport and will run from today (16 May 2005) until 27 May 2005.

Translink also wants to acknowledge the hard work of the students and get commuters involved, by asking them to vote for their favourite piece.  All votes must be cast by 27 May.  The winning student will be announced on 30 May alongside one lucky commuter who will be picked randomly from the draw.

Belfast Institute tutor, Deirdre Lawrence, said:

“This is a great opportunity for the students who are taking a BTEC HND in Graphic Design to showcase their work.  They love the idea of bringing graphic imagery to the general public and making it as accessible as possible.”

Translink’s Alan Hamilton, said:

”We are proud to have such quality graphic design on display in the station; the work is fantastic and really reflects the changing modern face of public transport.

“With over 35k visitors passing through the station each week, we thought Central Station would be an ideal venue in gathering major exposure for these students training at Belfast Institute.

“Now all we need is for our passengers to get involved, so if you are in Central Station before 27 May, please cast your vote for your favourite work.”
