PORT ‘RUSHIN’ BY RAIL ON EASTER MONDAY
22nd March 2005
N I Railways are pleased to announce the return of the popular special family rail services to Portrush this Easter Monday (28 March), there are three family trains leaving Belfast Central, Great Victoria Street and Londonderry which promise lots of family fun and face painters and balloons will be available on select trains. Family passes are necessary for travel and can be purchased in advance.
Commenting on the move Translink’s Rail Manager for the Londonderry Line Alistair Kitson explained; “Our Easter Monday family trains to Portrush proved extremely popular last year, so it made perfect sense to run them again. This year the journey should be even more fun for families as we have face painters and balloons on board select trains. On a more serious note all of our trains now operate an alcohol free and no smoking policy and the special family trains are no exception; the policies will be rigorously enforced and there is a maximum penalty of up to £1,000 for anyone in breach of these terms.
He continued; “The Easter Monday trains are special services designed specifically for families to enjoy a pleasant day out, as a result tickets and special family boarding cards may only be purchased by adults intending to travel with children*. We anticipate a high demand for these services so we would recommend that passengers book early to avoid disappointment. Tickets and boarding cards are currently available from Central, Great Victoria Street, Antrim, Coleraine and Londonderry stations. So come along and join in the Easter fun.”
Passengers are advised to arrive in plenty of time before the time of departure and standard promotional fares will apply. For more information on the family trains to Portrush on Easter Monday passengers should call 028 90 66 66 30 or click www.translink.co.uk
