Food Court is 'icing on the cake' at Central Station

18 October 2002

Travellers passing through Belfast Central Station can now get fully refreshed and revived at the station’s new food court.  Operated by Select Service Partnership, part of EUREST, the food court offers a range of meals, drinks and snacks to suit every appetite.

The food court area in the station has been extensively revamped as part of Translink’s ongoing £4.2million refurbishment of Central Station.  The bright and airy eating area accommodates 3 distinct outlets.  ‘Little Chef’ will be open from 7am to 8pm each day, serving a range of breakfasts, hot lunches and vegetarian meals as well as a selection of children’s menus.  For those seeking a lighter bite, ‘Upper Crust’ offers a range of freshly prepared filled baguettes, bagels and ciabatta, and a range of hot savouries and pastries.  Tea, hot chocolate, freshly ground coffee and soft drinks are available, and a new bar area is open from 11.30am to 8.30pm serving draught and bottled beers and spirits, liqueurs and wines.  Passengers in a hurry can buy a freshly prepared sandwich or salad and cold beverage from ‘Tastte’ to take away.

Hilton Parr, Translink Central Station Manager, explained “The new food area in Central aims to offers a wider variety of choice to our passengers, reflecting the enhanced level of service customers can expect throughout the station.  We are delighted to be working in partnership with Select Service Partnership, and trust our customers will enjoy the new facilities.”

Elaine Nelson, General Manager of SSP at Central Station commented, “In such a busy environment it’s important that we can meet out customers’ foodservice needs quickly and efficiently – be it a snack on the move, a reviving coffee or a hearty breakfast.  Our customer base includes students, commuters, day trippers and members of the public waiting to meet family or friends, so we have to be able to provide a wide variety of options, something for everyone.  Our range of popular branded offers enables us to do just that.”

Central Station is a non-smoking station.
