Dear Colleagues,
Our customers expect high quality services and facilities. Funding from DRD helps us to continue to achieve our investment programme.
The work on the second phase of rail station upgrades is now almost complete with all rail halts now offering better access for our customers. These improvements have been welcomed by our users and the many political representatives who have been visiting their local stations as part of our drive to demonstrate the benefits of this £17million investment.
Park and Ride facilities have been a huge success across our bus and rail networks and projects are now scheduled for sites on the Larne Railway Line. Work has started to extend the facilities at Whitehead while work to enhance facilities at Greenisland is due to start later this month. Further developments are also planned for Jordanstown and Whiteabbey. Work is also well underway on the 300 space P&R facility at the new rail station in Newry.
In order to help promote P&R we have introduced a new web service at www.translink.co.uk/pandrsiteinfor
mation.asp. This on-line facility highlights all the different sites across Northern Ireland with a location map of where they are. We hope this information will make it even easier for many more commuters to use them as part of their every day life.
Our fleet renewal programme also continues with 90 new fully accessible buses set to be delivered from this autumn for use across the Ulsterbus network. An investment of over £12million, they are the first of their kind in the United Kingdom and much work has been done by our technical engineers in their development to ensure they meet the needs of our passengers. They have a wide low floor front access door providing easy boarding for our customers particularly those with prams and buggies while passengers requiring wheelchair access will be able to board via a dedicated ramped side door.
We hope these developments will help to attract even more people to use our services as a better way to travel.

Group Chief Executive
