Dear Colleagues,
You may have seen an article in yesterday’s Belfast Telegraph talking about the savings people can make if they commute by bus or train instead of using a car every day.
The numbers were based on a comparison of our ticket prices and the AA’s cost of motoring calculator. The savings were quite stark; about £1500 per year for a commute within Belfast, £2200 per year from Lisburn to Belfast and £4000 per year from Magherafelt to Belfast.
We made the point of course that this is just one more reason to choose public transport, as well as the comfortable and relaxed journey.
It is worth bearing in mind that all of us can travel by bus and rail for free in Northern Ireland and many of you use this benefit every day. It is actually a very attractive reason for working with us. If you have a partner or dependent children who qualify, the benefit becomes even more valuable.
If you do use a car – to work or outside of work – why not take this opportunity to try one of our bus and rail services. You will see for yourself how good they are!
By way of a reminder - I do get feedback on many of these emails, but I would remind you that you are welcome to respond or to suggest any topic you would like me to address. Just press reply.
