Chief Executive's weekly email

28th September 2007

Dear Colleagues,

You will be aware that the cross border Enterprise rail service is one part of our business where growth has been difficult to deliver in recent years. Strong competition from new road links and the availability of low cost air travel to other weekend break destinations have made Dublin by rail a hard sell!

However, we are now getting real growth thanks to a focus on operational performance, a new catering offer and innovative web based promotions.

Sustained improvements in punctuality and reliability have been delivered and are appreciated by passengers.

The web fare run over the summer generated 15,752 journeys and revenue of £100,930 all at very low cost; passengers booked and paid at www.translink.co.uk and our call centre sent out the vouchers.

This shows decline can be reversed through focus, hard work, creative thinking and innovation – all of which we have in Translink!

Well done to all involved!

Philip O'Neill, Acting Chief Executive
