April 2007
Dear Colleagues,
Suggestions and ideas from across the company are always welcomed
especially when they improve the efficiency and effectiveness
of our bus and rail operations. Therefore it is timely to remind
everyone of our ‘Milesbetter Staff Suggestion Scheme’.
The scheme offers everyone throughout the company a real opportunity
to have their voice heard, with the added benefit of a substantial
reward if their ideas prove successful! To date almost £7000
has been awarded for staff ideas and suggestions since April
2004.
In order to encourage more of you to participate a themed
approach has been introduced with ‘Energy and the Environment’ providing
your inspiration until May, with an environmental goodie
bag up for grabs for ideas submitted during this time.
Hopefully many of you will ‘get your thinking caps
on’,
generate positive ideas onto the Milesbetter forms and forward
these pearls of wisdom to the HR department for consideration.
The Easter holidays came as a welcomed and well-earned break
for many across the company however, I’m sure you are
all aware due to media coverage of some anti-social behaviour
on Easter services at Bangor and subsequently on board a
train and at Central Station. I would like to take this opportunity
to thank our staff who dealt with this situation in a highly
professional manner and for the support of the PSNI in helping
to diffuse the situation.
Also congratulations to our Training Department who have
been approved as an Institute of Leadership and Management
Centre
for the delivery of courses which will be accredited at level
3. This achievement further highlights the level of skill
and professionalism that exists and is being invested across
the
company.
Finally the weather forecast suggests we are going to have
an extremely good weekend so it’s the perfect time to
get out for a walk and generate bright positive thoughts for ‘Milesbetter’.
