Translink: Supporting Community

Monday 09 October 2017
I was pleased to speak at the Belfast International Homecoming in the new Titanic Hotel this week. This is the fourth annual event which attracts delegates from around the world to come home for a few days and join local business leaders in working to boost the economic development of Belfast and Northern Ireland. This was a fantastic opportunity to outline to a host of influential leaders the key role that public transport and Translink plays in the economic development of Northern Ireland.
"Congratulations to staff in all stations for working hard towards excellence"

This week we will be announcing the results of the Spirit of Translink Facility Awards. This is the first year of this new style award, having changed from Tidy Translink. We had 43 stations taking part and 6 received the top platinum status. Stations were scored by Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful across our four GO themes - Go Safely, Go Eco, Go Healthy and Go Together. Congratulations to staff in all stations for working hard towards excellence across the awards criteria and making Translink everyone’s First Choice for Travel in Northern Ireland.

Following on from our Wellbeing Month in September we are marking World Mental Health Day tomorrow with our partners in the Samaritans, promoting the charity’s ‘We Listen’ campaign which is a partnership with the Railway industry in the UK. It focuses on the expert listening service provided by Samaritan volunteers and we are rolling it out through posters and digital formats- it’s a campaign we want to give our full support to.

This week we’re also launching our partnership with Ulster Rugby as the provider of Park & Ride Shuttle Services for all their home games for Season 2017/18. This is in addition to the special service going from Europa and 6A Metro Service. It’s great to be able to provide fans with so many different public transport options to #SUFTUM!

As Halloween approaches, we’re highlighting the various Friends and Family offers we have for the Half Term Holidays. We also have many competitions and prizes up for grabs on Facebook to attract more people to #getonboard, so please help spread the word with our customers.

Finally, we currently have a Graduate Recruitment Scheme open with a closing date of Friday 27th October. Please encourage anyone interested to visit our website to find out more. This is a very successful initiative and many of our current managers are graduates of the scheme.
