Excellent Standards Show the SPIRIT of Translink

Friday 13 October 2017
The prestigious UK Bus Awards have shortlisted Falls Road bus depot and Airport Express 300 services as finalists this year. The Falls Road depot is a finalist for ‘Top National Depot’, while Airport Express 300 is a finalist in the ‘Putting Passengers First’ category. It is a great achievement against tough competition to become a finalist and highlight our high standards, excellent customer service, innovation and commitment to customers and communities. Our campaign urging people to ‘Get Behind the Hub’ is also a finalist at this year’s Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) Awards. Well done to all the teams involved in these awards and good luck for the finals.
"high standards, excellent customer service, innovation and commitment to customers and communities"

I mentioned the SPIRIT of Translink Facility Awards last week and well done to everyone, the average score across all 43 participating locations was 85%, showing excellent standards all round. Top platinum awards were presented to Craigavon Bus Station, Portadown Train Station, Downpatrick Buscentre, Antrim Bus & Rail Centre and Europa Buscentre.

We are continuing to improve all our facilities & infrastructure and works are underway over the course of two weekends this month to replace ballast on the railway line between Knockmore and Lurgan. This will secure its long-term resilience, improve line speeds and give a more comfortable passenger experience. The first stage of the works is taking place this weekend, with the second stage scheduled for the 28th and 29th October. Separate works will also take place as part of our Bridge Refurbishment & Strengthening Programme on the southerly rail bridge at Newry Canal. There are some service changes for rail passengers during these works, with bus substitutions. Please help to keep customers informed of these essential works and the bus substitutions.

This week we launched a new initiative with Ulster GAA; the Translink Ulster GAA Coach of the Year, which celebrates the incredible work carried out by volunteer coaches within Ulster GAA. The winning coach will be declared ‘Translink Ulster GAA Coach of the Year’.

Finally, health and wellbeing are important to us all and we are working with Action Cancer to introduce a new Employee Health Check. Monthly employee health checks will be available across the company, keep an eye out for details which will be posted on ULink.
