Christmas Travel Package Launch

Monday 27 November 2017
Christmas light switch-ons, extended shop opening hours, sales, parties, markets, pantomimes and carol services are just some of the signs that Northern Ireland is gearing up for another festive season. We have a central role to play in making this an enjoyable and safe time for everyone travelling over Christmas. Public transport is used more during December than at any other time of the year and people depend on Translink to deliver this service.

"network-wide service enhancements, late night services, entertainment and festive surprises"

We’ve launched our 2017 Christmas travel package full of network-wide service enhancements, entertainment and festive surprises to ensure people shopping, commuting and socialising with family and friends, can enjoy their all-important festive journeys safely.

This year we’ve also introduced special ‘Night Mover’ services running every Friday and Saturday from December 1 - 22 across selected coach, bus and rail services - perfect for nights out or late-night shopping. This will help give the local retail and hospitality sector a boost during their busiest time of year and we’ve also been working with local councils to support their Christmas campaigns, encouraging more people to use public transport to ease congestion in towns and cities across Northern Ireland.

At this time of the year the Translink SPIRIT is very evident; everyone working hard and also supporting those in need. This year we’ve launched our first ever ‘Stuff A Bus’ charity campaign calling on everyone to help us reach our target of 10,000 gifts donated in aid of the St Vincent De Paul and Salvation Army Family Appeal. Toy drop-off points are available at: Bangor Bus & Rail Centre, Belfast Central Station, Belfast Europa Buscentre, Dungannon Bus Station, Foyle Street Bus Station and Newry Buscentre.

We’ll also be doing our best to bring the Christmas spirit to life in our stations and on-board services with an exciting line-up of special festive entertainment and watch out for some ‘cracker’ surprises on board our services in December.

Well done to everyone for organising and supporting our Christmas travel package to make this an enjoyable and safe time for everyone travelling in Northern Ireland over Christmas.

Well done also to the Falls Road bus depot for making it through to the finals of the UK Bus Awards and the Airport Express 300 service which won a Bronze award. This is a great achievement which we are very proud of.
