Festive Fares, Seasonal Cheer and Celebrating 40 Years

Friday 09 December 2016
With just two weeks to go, our festive Christmas activity is in full swing across our network. This year we have even more festive fares than ever to get people on board our services, whether it's for shopping, socialising or visiting friends and family.
"We are working with a range of organisations including local councils to help us spread the 'Translink good cheer' of special fares and enhanced services"

We are working with a range of organisations including local councils to help us spread the ‘Translink good cheer’ of special fares and enhanced services. This week I met with Belfast’s Lord Mayor, Alderman Brian Kingston and I can see from the media coverage there are many more partnerships like this right across Northern Ireland, all helping to promote our offers.

This year, we also have #Smartmovers teams out and about making sure customers know where to go and how to get the best value ticket. They are also surprising passengers with surprise ‘treats’ on board and passenger reactions to this on social media have been very positive with lots of compliments and messages of appreciation. Our charity choirs in stations are also providing a festive atmosphere for everyone to enjoy.

Thanks to everyone who participated in the Belfast Hub Consultation. We have received hundreds of submissions and will be analysing these over the coming weeks as we use the feedback to further develop the design proposals. It is great to see such interest in this proposed project which will transform our transport infrastructure and revitalise the surrounding area. The Derry-Londonderry hub consultation will be open until January 20th.

Finally, over the last year, it has been my pleasure to meet with staff who have been with us for 40 years. It has been extremely interesting to hear all their different stories and anecdotes and learn how things have changed and progressed. It is so important to recognise these individuals who have given so many years’ dedicated service to Translink and Public Transport in N.I. I look forward to meeting more of you next year, to mark your achievements.
