Group Chief Executive's Weekly Message

" A significant increase in staff satisfaction"
19th September 2014

Over the summer many of you completed our Pulse Survey to give us your views on working in Translink - there was a very good response rate – thanks to all of you for taking the time to provide your valuable feedback. These results will be used to keep improving.

Overall, the survey results have improved compared to 2013. Ratings for 'Engagement' and 'Loyalty' have risen to 83 and 90. Satisfaction with working for Translink is also high; 77% of office based and frontline staff and almost 90% of MPT staff report being satisfied. Overall staff dissatisfaction levels have also decreased.

Specifically, in 2014, there has been a significant increase in satisfaction compared to 2013, for all staff in terms of:

· Receiving satisfactory benefits other than pay;
· Regular feedback on my performance;
· Job security; and
· Ability to develop their career.

Also, the level of agreement with the following statements was very high; committed to helping Translink succeed (86%), believe Translink is a good place to work (84%), proud to work for Translink (77%) and intend to be working for the company two years from now (82%).

There's no doubt of the high level of employee commitment and loyalty across the company – in fact just recently I met a colleague in Ulsterbus who personified just this.

William 'Willis' McWilliams is an Ulsterbus Clerical Officer based in Ballymena Bus Station. This month Willis celebrates 50 years working for the company and has never had one day of sick leave which is truly remarkable! Ask any of his colleagues in Ballymena and they will speak of Willis' loyalty and the fantastic job he does day in, day out.

Willis is retiring from Translink at the end of the month and I would like to once again thank him for his longstanding commitment to the business – a real inspiration!

Lastly, this week, we announced the results of the 2014 Translink Ulster in Bloom Competition in which Ballymoney Train Station and Whitehead Train Station won the Best Floral Station categories. Runners-up included: Lisburn Railway Station, Foyle Street Bus Station, Newcastle Bus Station, Carnalea Train Station and Sydenham Train Station.

Congratulations to everyone involved in keeping these facilities so attractive and making such a positive impression on our customers.
