Final Week

Group Chief Executive's Weekly Message

"It has been a real pleasure to be your Interim Group Chief Executive"
24th October 2014

This is my final week as Interim Group Chief Executive and it has been a great week for the business and our Life's better marketing campaign - we collected five top awards from the Chartered Institute of Public Relations Northern Ireland and the Publicity Association Northern Ireland. These awards recognise the very best communications and advertising campaigns by local companies across Northern Ireland.

This is a fantastic team effort and achievement - congratulations to the Marketing Communications and Business Development Teams. These awards show how the work we do compares with the best in the industry and demonstrates we are doing things right for our passengers.

Not only are we doing the right things for our passengers but we are also always looking at ways to support our employees. One of my last engagements was the launch of the Translink: Go Bus. This will mainly be used for 'Go Healthy' initiatives across the network – remember our strapline - 'fit for work, fit for life'. But it will also support for example the Go Safe work we do with the public.

Well done to all the Bus Engineers who worked on the bus, it is really eye-catching; the four 'Go' themes on the livery and inside there is a private area for health checks, a TV and Wi-Fi. The Go Bus will now travel to Derry~Londonderry for scheduled visits to local schools. A calendar of when and where the bus is going will be published later this year.

Finally, our new Group Chief Executive, David Strahan joins us on Monday and so as my time as Interim Group Chief Executive draws to an end, I want to thank everyone who supported me in the role. I have particularly enjoyed getting out and about to meet employees across the business and have seen first-hand what goes on to ensure we deliver top quality bus and train services that so many people depend on every day. It has been a real pleasure and a privilege to lead such a professional and successful organisation.

David will begin his role next week and I am sure you will join with me to wish David all the best in his new position. I have no doubt you will be as encouraging and supportive as you were with me.
