It is very important that we communicate with our customers in the ways that suit them. We all know more and more people are using social media and we have responded by making Twitter and Facebook central to our marketing.

Our efforts were recognised at the highest level last week in the UK Rail Business Awards where, up against the very best of the UK rail industry, we won the top award for Digital and Social Media Excellence for our Translink Life's Better campaign. We were also highly commended in both the PR and Marketing categories for the same campaign.

I know we are going through a very challenging financial situation at the moment. For this reason it is more important than ever that we continue to focus on communicating with our customers and giving them more reasons to choose our services.
