Upgrade of Enterprise Trains

"improving comfort for passengers on this key service"
21st February 2014

Dear Colleagues,

It is hard to believe the Enterprise trains are now about 15 years old! Later this year we expect to begin a project worth £12 million (largely funded from EC funds, thanks to the Minister for Regional Development) to refurbish the trains that operates between Belfast and Dublin. The four trains will have new interiors, improved accessibility and signage, toilet upgrades and a brand new look and feel.

All carriages will be installed with CCTV as well as forward facing CCTV on the driver's cab. New electronic systems including PA and passenger alarm will be fitted on-board the Enterprise. Another development is the ability to electronically reserve seats online before you travel. The project will really improve passenger comfort and set us up for further growth on this key service.

Translink NI Railways will once again be supporting International Level Crossing Awareness Day, which this year takes place on 3rd June. In order to mark the run-up to June 3rd, we are encouraging children to take part in the ILCAD colouring competition with the theme 'Act Safely around Level Crossings'. Finally, the Valentine's Day cake sale raised over £1,700 in aid of Macmillan Cancer – well done to everyone involved.
