"delivering the transport for all the major events"
8th May 2014

Dear Colleagues,

Tonight the Giro d'Italia gets underway with the special opening ceremony event at Belfast City Hall. Over the next few days hundreds of riders, thousands of support workers and tens of thousands of spectators will combine to provide a fantastic spectacle of glamour and excitement and put Northern Ireland on the world stage.

There have been months of planning and preparation to bring this festival to our shores and I know many of you have been involved in the huge transport effort for this event to ensure people can get to see the race action or just get about their normal business.

I am sure many of you have seen our Giro branded pink buses and some of our employees have also joined the race to go 'pink' wearing pink ties and scarves - it is great to see the level of enthusiasm and involvement throughout the race route.

We have a lot of information on our website about the event and the various road closures - no doubt most of you will have seen the pink road signs - so please do check and allow extra time for your journeys - if you are using the bus or driving, be prepared for disruptions or make alternative arrangements.

We have built up an excellent reputation for how we deliver the transport needed for major events and with Balmoral Show and the North West 200 also coming up next week on the back of the Giro we need everyone to keep up the hard work to make all of these events a great success.

Northern Ireland is known for its warm welcome and enthusiasm and I know all of you will play your part to leave visitors with positive experiences to help make our region a leading tourist destination. If you have personal Giro plans this weekend I hope you enjoy the spectacle, but a big thanks to all those working to ensure our services run smoothly.
