"Tidy Translink and Local Events"
09th August 2013

Dear Colleagues,

"Thanks to all of you who worked so hard to give the WPFG athletes, their friends and families such a positive experience of Northern Ireland"

This week we announced that water efficiency will be a key focus in this year's TIDY Translink Awards. As you will be aware, the awards which were first launched in 2007 are designed to improve the environmental performance of our facilities throughout Northern Ireland and to recognise the efforts of Translink employees who go the extra mile to create a more attractive and sustainable bus and rail network.

Since 2007, the awards have evolved to encompass more assessment criteria covering environmental performance, safety, health and community matters, ultimately ensuring the long term sustainability of our passenger transport facilities.

TIDY Translink is an important part of our overall business approach in which we are committed to developing a culture of continuous environmental improvement and strive for long-term sustainability right across the company. This goal contributes to social and economic wellbeing in local communities while protecting biodiversity and ensuring we operate as efficiently as possible. I would encourage you all to get behind these awards.

We are coming to the end of a busy period with the World Police and Fire Games, where we carried thousands of international visitors on our bus and rail services. Congratulations are due to all of you who worked so hard to give the WPFG athletes, their friends and families such a positive experience of Northern Ireland and local passenger transport.

Activity continues to ramp up with next week's events; Tennants Vital will be taking place at Boucher Playing Fields from August 14th-16th, while in Derry~Londonderry, Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann begins on Sunday 11th and runs until August 18th. Passengers using our services to travel to these events have come to expect a professional and efficient service from Translink and I thank everyone involved in their promotion and delivery.
