Recycling Initiative

A companywide charity initiative set up locally by Newry Bus Station has been running for the last 15 years and has continued to build on its success.  To date Translink staff have gathered 6,193 pairs of glasses to give to OneSight, a worldwide charity.  These glasses are collated and counted in Newry Bus Station and then sent to a local opticians, McAdorey’s, where they are cleaned and graded.  The glasses are then collected by OneSight who distribute them worldwide to locals in need of glasses.

OneSight is a family of charitable vision care programs dedicated to providing healthy vision, eyewear and sun protection to those in need worldwide.  Since 1988, these charitable efforts have provided free vision care and eyewear to more than eight million people in need around the world.

The glasses gathered by Translink staff are giving the gift of sight to millions in need around the world!
