One of the best loved musicals of all time Annie is running away to
Dublin next week, with a star-studded Broadway performance.
The rags-to-riches tale tells of 11-year-old Annie who lives at the New York City Municipal Orphanage, with a burning ambition to find her parents. One night, she runs away with only half a silver locket and a written promise to return as a guide to her long-lost parents.
Annie is caught and returned to the villainous orphanage to live at the hands of Miss Hannigan. One Christmas, Grace Farrell, personal secretary of billionaire Oliver Warbucks, pays a visit to the orphanage to invite one orphan to his mansion for Christmas. Despite Miss Hannigan's attempts to divert attention from Annie, she is the girl she picks.
Annie goes on to connect with Mr Warbucks, and tells him of her dream to meet her parents. From then, the two experience sabotaged plots to take Annie back, love, loss, and all things in between.
The show includes songs such as 'Hard knock life', 'You're never fully dressed without a smile' and most renowned song 'Tomorrow'. The show is set to make an appearance in
Dublin next week, but if that’s too short notice, it also returns to Northern Ireland later in the year, performing at Derry Millennium Forum on 15th to the 19th November.
