Residents in North Belfast urged to beat the January blues with low cost travel from Translink

16 January 2017

Translink makes a little go a long way on-board its Metro bus service

Translink has cut travel costs for Metro customers in North Belfast as part of an incentive to encourage residents to do more with less this January.

Following the Christmas break, the public transport provider will ensure people visiting the sales or kick-starting 2017 resolutions will have more cash in their pocket, thanks to the launch of a new Metro £2.50 Day Return ticket.

Talking about the special edition ticket, available from 2 January to 28 February, for travel after 9.30am, on Corridor 1 (Antrim Road), Corridor 2 (Shore Road) and Metro 13 (City Express), Brand Manager at Translink, Carol Lundy said:

“This Christmas we were delighted to see a record-breaking surge in passenger numbers following our festive campaign which featured cost reductions across all our services. With that in mind, January can often be a tough month after an indulgent Christmas and Translink is committed to ensuring travel is even more affordable for residents in Newtownabbey, Antrim Road and Shore Road neighbourhoods. This value-for-money ticket on-board Metro will help our customers embrace the New Year using our convenient service.

“Whether that’s hopping on-board to go bargain hunting in the sales or making a daily walk to and from the bus stop one of your healthy New Year’s resolutions – in fact, statistics show that daily bus users walk 2.5 times further per day than car users!

“So, make the ‘smart move’ and Travel by Metro – we’re looking forward to welcoming even more passengers on-board our services in 2017!”
