Translink Sponsor Lurgan Park Easter Extravaganza

3 May 2019

As part of an extensive programme of community engagement associated with the ongoing Lurgan Area Track Renewal Project, Translink were pleased to sponsor and attend the Emmanuel Church’s Easter Extravaganza in Lurgan Park recently!
The annual Easter Extravaganza family fun day is a highlight in the Lurgan calendar, attended by many hundreds of people.

Translink continue to work on an ongoing basis with community groups and clubs throughout Lurgan in preparation for a full relay of line of over 1.7km of railway line between Friday 26th July and Friday 23rd August.

Allan Stewart, Translink Project Manager for the Lurgan Area Track Renewal, commented:

‘‘Translink were delighted to not only attend the Easter Extravaganza but help sponsor it as well. Emmanuel Church put a large amount of work into organising the event, and this was evident by such a large turnout from the local community. We want to pass on our sincere thanks to all those involved for such a successful day.

“As part of our ongoing engagement, we want to ensure that the local community are fully aware of both the wider importance of sustainable transport as well as how our major programme of track renewal works will affect the Lurgan area.

“Team Translink, as well as representatives of the project team, were on hand to answer any questions and provide information to the local community about the project and its’ impact on the town.”

“During the planned summer closure, engineering equipment will be operating along the line frequently, although regular scheduled services will not.  We would ask everyone in the local community to remain vigilant and continue to use the designated railway crossings safely, refraining from using the tracks as a shortcut at any time, or trespassing on or near NI Railways property or around engineering sites.’’
