Safety Presentation at Sacred Heart Primary School

12 April 2019

Progress on Translink’s signature North-West Multi-Modal Transport Hub (NWMMTH) at the former Waterside Train Station in Derry~Londonderry continues, with the new facility taking shape ahead of Phase 1 works completing later in 2019.

Representing an investment of around £27 million, funding has been secured from the European Union’s INTERREG VA Programme, managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB), with match funding provided by the Department for Infrastructure and the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport in Ireland.

This ambitious cross-border project, which has the potential to transform travel across the north-west, represents a major vote of confidence in the region by Translink, sitting alongside wider investment of approximately £55 million in the Derry~Londonderry area in recent years.

As part of engagement and outreach associated with the project, a presentation by Translink contractors Farrans’ was recently given to pupils at Sacred Heart Primary School in the Waterside area – this focused on Farrans’ ‘Safety Sam’ character, helping the children understand the importance of site safety.
