7 March 2019

Our Lady & St Patrick’s College, Knock is the inaugural winner of the Irish FA Translink Schools’ Gold Cup.

The new Translink-backed competition involves the eight post-primary schools in Northern Ireland who have been awarded the prestigious Gold Schools Quality Mark accreditation by the Irish FA Foundation which recognises schools who put structures in place to develop football.

Participating schools included Belfast Boys’ Model School, St Malachys College, Belfast, Laurelhill Community College, Our Lady & St Patrick’s College, Knock, Holy Cross College, Strabane, Ashfield Boys High School, Bangor Academy and St Columbs College, Derry.

The eight participating schools faced each other across 3 age groups (U13, U15, U17) over the past couple of months. Points were awarded to the schools for their league positions, and OLSPCK achieved the most points to claim ‘Top Football Performance School’ status in Northern Ireland.
