Dear Colleagues,
This week we welcomed the Minister for Regional Development to introduce to our customers and the media major investment at two of our passenger facilities; a £3.6 million upgrade of Portadown Train Station and a £1.3 million project to improve accessibility at Ballymoney Train Station.
The current Portadown Train Station will be extended and refurbished, including redesign of passenger and staff facilities, improved access points, platform extensions, Park & Ride alterations, bus stands, a passenger set-down & pick-up point, taxi rank, cycle storage, better CCTV and lighting and improved signage.
In Ballymoney we will construct a new, fully accessible, traffic-free bridge at the train station to provide a safe and direct link between the north and south of the town, avoiding busy roads. It will mean better access to platforms and also includes an extended P&R facility for 60 cars. This project is a partnership including the Department for Regional Development, Ballymoney Borough Council and Sustrans.
These investments will give local people and visitors to Portadown and Ballymoney more attractive, integrated, safe and accessible passenger transport services. It also supports growing demand for rail travel as we continue to roll out 20 new trains across the network.

Group Chief Executive
