The initiative also allows visitors attending the Show on Wednesday 14th May to avail of a special opening day discount on presentation of a valid bus or rail ticket – with adults saving £4 and children and senior citizens saving £2.

Lynda Shannon, Communications Manager for Translink said, “This incentive allows Balmoral Show visitors to travel in comfort and also enjoy a saving on their day out. In addition, Translink is continuing the 1/3 off day returns offer for rail passengers, while senior citizens holding a valid Senior SmartPass can enjoy free travel. The combination of new and continuing promotions with frequent and convenient services means that there’s a green travel option for everyone.

“We are delighted to be working with Travelwise NI to promote all forms of sustainable transport from park and ride or park and share to walking or cycling. With facilities available at Dunsilly, Antrim and Sprucefield now even more people can choose a greener form of transport.”

RUAS Chief Executive Colin McDonald explains, “There are a number of car parks in operation during the Show, however in recent years, we have introduced a number of measures, including park and ride facilities and travel promotions, in a bid to reduce traffic congestion and minimise disruption for residents, commuters and show goers.

“We are very grateful to Translink for again supporting us in our drive to get people out of their cars and onto public transport, and I’d encourage people to avail of the good service and reduced fares during Show time.”
