Upgrade of Balmoral rail halt

16 October 2007:

NI Railways is advising passengers using Balmoral station halt that, due to upgrade work currently being carried out on the line, the platform in both the Belfast and Portadown directions will be closed this weekend.

On Saturday October 20 the platform in the Portadown direction at Balmoral will be closed for essential day work. On Sunday October 21 the platform in the Belfast direction at Balmoral will be closed for essential day work.

Translink would like to alert local residents at Balmoral station halt that night work will take place on Friday 26 October.

This work is part of the £7 million investment package to upgrade stations across Northern Ireland in order to deliver a better rail service. The work involves new signage, shelters, seating and re-surfacing and will mean greater access for disabled passengers and a better environment for all.

Translink’s General Manager for Rail Services, Mal McGreevy, has assured passengers that every effort would be made to minimise noise and disruption to stations and services.

NI Railways would like to ask passengers for their continued support while this project is underway and would apologise for any inconvenience caused by these temporary arrangements.

Passengers can access the latest information regarding the project by logging on to www.translink.co.uk or by contacting Translink’s Call Centre on 028 9066 6630.
