The Enterprise Service – Fares Revision

13th December 2007:

Translink have announced that fares for the cross border Enterprise service, jointly operated with Irish Rail, will increase with effect from Thursday 3rd January 2007.

Ciaran Rogan Translink’s Marketing Executive explained; “Even though costs have increased on the railways we have held fares since March 2006”.

“We have worked hard to keep any increases to a minimum and this has also been helped by the strong growth in passengers now using the service.  While fares will overall increase by an average of 3.4%, the most popular ticket types; the Enterprise Class, Standard adult singles and returns, will only increase by £1 and the promotional day return fare is being held”.

“More people see travel by rail as a sustainable alternative to having to take the car to Dublin.   Punctuality and reliability results for the last 6 months show that 99.75% of Enterprise services ran as planned and almost 90% of all trains met charter standards for punctuality.  We are committed to further improving on this performance and indeed on developing the route to deliver a high speed rail service as part of our long term vision in conjunction with our Irish Rail partners.

Mr. Rogan concluded, “We are confident that the Enterprise offers passengers a real value for money alternative for hard pressed and hassled motorists. The train is convenient and comfortable; commuters and leisure travellers can relax on board the train with good food and the opportunity to keep in touch with the office safely and use lap tops on board.”
