Translink has announced that fares for Metro, Ulsterbus and NI Railways are to be revised from Monday 28 March 2005.
Translink’s Marketing Executive, Ciaran Rogan explained “In spite of the well publicised rising cost of fuel we have made every effort to hold the most popular fares at current levels, but overall Metro and Ulsterbus fares will rise by only 2%; which is still below the rate of inflation.
He continued; “The smart money is still on Smartlink, the fares have been held and offer significant savings of up to 25% and we would encourage our passengers to use them. A fares promotion on Metro which was introduced on 7th February offering passengers options for purchasing day tickets at £3, £2, or £1 is also proving to be very popular.
“On average, NI Railway fares will increase by 5% but fares on the Enterprise service to Dublin have been held.
“We have worked hard to keep fares increases to a minimum and focus on delivering better services such as the enhanced Goldline timetables, the introduction of Metro and the new C3K trains entering service. These activities are helping to grow the business and we are already seeing positive results.”
