The Northern Ireland Transport Holding Company, parent body of Translink today welcomed the Minister for Regional Development’s announcement of the consultation paper ‘A New Start for Public Transport in Northern Ireland’.
Speaking on behalf of the Board of the N I Transport Holding Company, the Chairman, Dr Joan Smyth said “We look forward to working closely with the Minister and his officials to examine new ways of organising and delivering improved public transport services in Northern Ireland. In order to achieve the vision for public transport set out in the Regional Transportation Strategy, we accept the need to open discussions on alternative proposals for the regulation and delivery of services, including the ability to access private sector funding.”
“Given the importance of this debate, we encourage everyone with an interest in public transport in Northern Ireland to engage fully in the consultation process which is now underway.”
